Local Lead Generation Services for Service Businesses
We help local businesses that go to the customer, from local services like plumbing and HVAC to carpet cleaning, get found by homeowners who are already searching.
That means more leads from the map pack, the organic results and your Google Business Profile, and fewer leads you have to share with three other contractors. For the Kansas City metro, see Google Business Profile optimization in Kansas City.
You may be doing your own marketing badly, or you may have just let go of an agency that sent a monthly PDF and never got the phone to ring.
That’s a systems problem, not a marketing problem. Steven White built the system and runs it himself. There’s no sales team and no junior account manager in between.
Two ways to start. Request a free audit and we’ll tell you what’s broken on your site and your profile, and where you’re losing leads.
Or call (913) 702-2188 and talk to the person who’ll be doing the work.

What Is Lead Generation for a Local Business?
Lead generation for a local business is the work that turns local searches into phone calls and booked jobs.
For a business that goes to the customer’s home, that means being found by the homeowner who has a problem right now, in the town you actually serve.
It’s different from buying leads. A shared lead goes to you and to everyone else who paid for it.
An owned lead comes from a search where your business showed up on its own, so the customer is talking to you first.
Our Google Ads management sits in the middle. It’s paid, but the calls come from your own campaigns and not from a shared list.
What Do Our Services Include?
Five services, built to work as one system. That’s what it takes to compete in the map pack and the organic results at the same time, and most local businesses only get one of the two.
Local SEO
We get your website and your listing ranking for the searches that bring in calls. That covers the pages, the town-by-town content and the technical fixes.
See the full breakdown on local SEO for service businesses, or the metro version for local SEO Kansas City.
Google Business Profile optimization
Your profile is often the first thing a customer sees, so we make sure it’s working and not only filled out.
Categories, services, photos and posts all get attention. Details are on the Google Business Profile optimization page.
Google Ads management
Paid search fills the gap while your organic rankings build. We structure campaigns by intent, review negative keywords weekly and track every call back to the campaign that earned it. Kansas City businesses can see Google Ads management in Kansas City.
Start with Google Ads management.
Review management
A repeatable way to ask every customer for a review and answer every review you get. Reviews decide who gets the call once a homeowner has found you. See home services review management.
Website optimization
A site that loads fast, converts visitors and doesn’t fight your SEO. Our website optimization work fixes speed, mobile layout and the path from a page to a phone call.
Most marketing companies sell you one of these and call it a strategy. Call (913) 702-2188 if you want to know which of the five your business is missing.
How Do Calls Reach Your Phone?
A call reaches your phone through one of two places on Google: the map pack or the organic results below it.
The map pack is the three listings shown with a map at the top of a local search. It leans on your profile, your reviews and your citations. The organic results lean on your website content and its authority.
Most agencies chase one and ignore the other. You rank in Google Maps and stay invisible in organic, or the reverse. Our approach builds both.
- Map pack searches: someone types “carpet cleaner near me” and the three listings decide who gets the call.
- Organic searches: someone types a question like how to get pet urine smell out of carpet and a page answers it.
- Different searches, same customer. Both end at your phone.
It’s the foundation of the full digital marketing strategy we build for every client.
Citations and NAP consistency
Citations are online listings of your business name, address and phone number on sites like Apple Maps, the Better Business Bureau and smaller directories.
Google compares them to your profile, so a match builds trust and a mismatch makes it hedge. We audit what we can find and clean up the mismatches. The NAP citations guide explains what each listing needs.
Call tracking
You can’t improve what you can’t see. We set up tracking so you can tell which pages, listings and campaigns produced phone calls, not only clicks.
The thinking behind it is in tracking what actually matters.
Are Shared Leads Worth It for Contractors?
Shared leads can fill a slow week, but they cost more than the invoice shows.
You’re one of several contractors getting the same homeowner’s number, so the job tends to go to whoever calls first and quotes lowest. Local leads you generate yourself work differently: the homeowner searched, found your business and called you, so you aren’t racing three other contractors for the same job.
Owned leads from search also keep working. A page that ranks keeps producing leads until something changes, while a bought lead stops the day you stop paying.
What we target
We target the searches that carry real buying intent, meaning your service plus the towns you work in. We leave out the broad terms that fill a report and never ring the phone.
We work in one niche, businesses that go to the customer’s home, so the plan isn’t borrowed from e-commerce or software. Buyers in this niche call the first company that looks trustworthy, and buyers rarely compare more than two or three.
How Does a Search Become a Booked Job?
A search becomes a booked job in three steps, and the funnel is short for local work. Each step has a place it can leak.
Step 1: The homeowner finds you
This is the search. You need to be in the map pack, in the organic results or in a paid ad for the right words, in the right town.
Step 2: The homeowner trusts you
This is the profile, the reviews and the page. A complete listing with recent reviews and a page that answers the question gets the call. A thin one loses it.
Step 3: The homeowner calls
This is the number, the button and the speed of the answer. A tap-to-call link above the fold and someone who picks up are worth more than another ranking.
Which Trades Do We Build This For?
We built this system on Chem-Dry franchises first. Our documented results are in carpet cleaning, and we say so plainly.
We also build the same pages and campaigns for plumbing, HVAC and restoration contractors, and each trade has a page of its own.
Carpet cleaning
The trade we run every day. See carpet cleaning marketing for how the system works for cleaners.
Chem-Dry owners
Results for current franchise owners, from a franchise we actually run. See Chem-Dry marketing.
HVAC
Seasonal swings, emergency calls and planned replacements all search differently. See HVAC marketing.
Plumbing
Emergency searches need their own campaign and a number that gets answered at night. See plumbing marketing.
Restoration
Water and storm damage searches come in bursts. See restoration marketing, or the full list on Industries We Serve.
What Makes Our Approach Different From a Typical Agency?
Most lead companies sell you a number: so many leads for so much money. We sell you the system that produces them, and we show you where each one came from. The difference shows up in three places.
- We don’t resell leads. Every lead comes from a search your own pages, listing or ads earned, so you aren’t paying a middleman for a phone number you could have had directly.
- We tell you what we can’t promise. Nobody can honestly guarantee a ranking date or a number of calls, and we won’t put one in a contract.
- We show our own numbers first. The client results page includes the metric that fell, not only the ones that rose.
That last point matters to the businesses we work with. A homeowner who calls three contractors compares them quickly, and buyers do the same with agencies. A business owner who hires an agency should be able to compare just as quickly.
How Do We Report Results?
We report the three places a lead can come from separately, so nothing is counted twice. Calls and form fills from your website go in one section, conversions from Google Ads go in another, and actions on your Business Profile go in a third.
Website calls and forms
These are the taps on your phone number and the form submissions that came from your site. Calls from organic traffic are the ones that show the SEO working.
Google Ads conversions
These are calls and forms from paid campaigns, counted against what the campaign cost, so you can see the cost of a lead.
Business Profile actions
These are the calls and website clicks that happen on your listing. A caller who dials straight from the map pack never touches your website, which is why this section exists on its own.
Some calls can’t be traced to a source, and we say that in the report instead of guessing.
What Do the First 90 Days Look Like?
The first three months go in a fixed order, because each step makes the next one measurable.
- Month 1: we audit your site, your Business Profile and your current rankings, fix the technical problems and clean up your listings.
- Months 2 through 4: we build the pages for each service and town, and add the supporting content for the gaps the audit found.
- Month 5 and beyond: we track what moved, strengthen the pages that sit close to page one and keep adding content on top of the foundation.
If you run ads, the campaigns start in the first weeks, so calls can arrive while the organic side builds.
Who Are These Services Not For?
These services are a poor fit for some businesses, and it’s better to say so now. We’d rather turn down a job than take your money and not deliver.
- Businesses that need calls this week with no ad budget. Organic work takes months to build.
- Businesses outside the home service trades. We work in one niche, and the pages and campaigns are built for it.
- Owners who want a guarantee of a ranking or a lead count. We won’t write one.
If you’re not sure which side of the line you’re on, the free audit settles it before you spend anything.
How Much Do These Services Cost?
Our services are a monthly fee, and the pricing depends on your market and how much needs to be built. Agencies that price for their own overhead pass it on to you, through account managers, sales teams and layers of subcontractors between you and the person doing the work.
We work month-to-month with no lock-in contract. If it isn’t producing, you can walk, and we’d rather earn your business every month than hold you to a twelve-month agreement. We start with a free audit so you get a real scope, not generic pricing. Small businesses shouldn’t pay for a big agency’s overhead, and our pricing reflects that.
Call (913) 702-2188 to talk about it directly, no sales form needed. It’s also how you grow a service business and not just rent traffic.
What Have We Proven So Far?
Brooke’s Chem-Dry in Kansas City runs on this system: local SEO, Google Business Profile work, Google Ads and website fixes, run by the same person who’d run yours. The numbers are on our client results page, including the parts that went the wrong way, and not summarized in a sales deck.
We don’t outsource the work we’re asking you to trust us with. Call (913) 702-2188 and ask about the Brooke’s Chem-Dry numbers directly.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do these services include?
They cover your Google Business Profile, your website’s on-page content, technical fixes, citation cleanup, review management and, if you want it, Google Ads. The goal is more leads from both the map pack and the organic results, for the searches your customers actually use.
How much do they cost?
It depends on your market and how much needs fixing. We work month-to-month, so you’re paying for ongoing work and not a commitment you can’t exit. Request a free audit and we’ll quote a real number for your situation.
How long do they take to work?
Google Ads can start producing calls sooner than the organic side, because you’re paying for the placement. Profile improvements and rankings take longer and nobody can promise a date. That’s why we run them together and not one after the other.
How do I choose a company for this?
Whether it’s an agency or a one-person shop, ask who actually does the work. Ask to see results from a real client, not a stock case study. And ask about the contract, because a company that needs you locked in for a year is telling you something about its confidence.
What’s the difference between the map pack and regular Google results?
The map pack is the three listings shown with a map at the top of a local search, driven mostly by your profile, reviews and citations. Regular results below it are driven by your website content and authority. Marketing that only chases one leaves calls on the table.
Do you work with businesses outside Kansas City?
Yes. We’re based in the Kansas City metro and our clients are nationwide. If you’re in the metro, see our page on local SEO in Kansas City.
Can I use these services if I already have a website?
Yes, most do. We start by auditing the site you have and fixing what holds it back, and we only rebuild pages that can’t be saved.
Do I need Google Ads, or is SEO enough?
It depends on how fast you need calls. Ads are the faster option and SEO is the one that keeps working after you stop paying. Most businesses are better off with both, and the audit tells you which to start with.
What do I need to give you to get started?
Access to your website, your Google Business Profile and your Google Ads account if you have one. We never ask for your passwords in an email, and we use the sharing tools each platform provides.
